Parents & Caregivers Groups

Parents & Caregivers Groups

For anyone who has a child 12 years of age or under participating in a group, the caregiver remains at the Centre in the family room while the children are upstairs.  As the children in group are often drawn together by circumstance surrounding their grief, parents and caregivers may also offer support to each other.

We also offer two structured parent groups.

On Our Own – is a support group for parents who have a child attending the centre and who have had a spouse, life partner or co- parent die.  This group provides support through a very difficult and overwhelming time of change.  The parents in this group are learning to cope with their own grief, supporting their children through grief and also adapting to parenting alone.

Empty Arms – is a support group for parents who have had a child die, where the child was between the ages of birth and 24 years old at the time of death.
